John Harvey Slocum Launches Campaign for State House District 12

COLLEGE STATION, TX – John Harvey Slocum, a Republican businessman from Brazos County, today launched his campaign for State Representative in Texas House District 12 in the wake of long-time Rep. Kyle Kacal’s retirement.  District 12 is a rural district which includes all of Grimes, Madison, Robertson, Walker, and Washington Counties, as well as a portion of Brazos County.  Slocum has a background in residential construction & development, oil and gas, ranching, and business development. These multiple endeavors will be an asset in the legislature.

“The issues that we face in Austin are varied and complex,” Slocum said.  “From pushing back against Joe Biden’s disastrous border policies, ensuring that our elections are free and fair, working to provide top-quality education for our children without radical indoctrination curriculums, cutting regulation on small businesses, keeping Texas cities and counties free of the overreaching and over regulation by state government, defending our Second Amendment, and protecting human life in all of its forms, I will be an effective advocate for the families of this district.  I will work to provide a fair system that respects the Rule of Law and the conservative values we share in Texas.”

Slocum began his professional career in residential construction, and then later moved into the oil and gas industry.  He is currently a managing partner of Prime Solution Services, a directional drilling business. John Harvey has worked domestically and abroad on both land and offshore operations.  In addition, he is involved in a multi-generational ranching operation, and he is a partner in Viking Corporate Services, a business development company credited with the success of 1860 Italia restaurant, Dulce Vista Construction, and Texas Archery Bow Shop, one of the nation’s most successful archery businesses. He is also a partner in OceanTherm USA, a company focused on mitigating hurricane damage by lowering the surface temperature of the ocean. John Harvey’s most recent business adventure is the newly opened Poché’s Seafood Shoppe and Restaurant.

“I am passionate about using my experience to advance the conservative agenda and making sure that future generations have the freedom and opportunity to raise their families and live their version of the American Dream right here in Central Texas” Slocum continued.  “This community has given so much to me and my family. I feel a special obligation to give back in equal measure.  I look forward to sharing my vision with Republicans across our district and earning the honor of serving us at the Texas Capital.”

John Harvey Slocum was born and raised in Brazos County where his father, R.C., was the Texas A&M head football coach.  He graduated from A&M Consolidated High School and earned his Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M in 1999.  He and his wife of 20 years, Theresa, Texas A&M Class of ‘97, are the proud parents of one daughter Dillan, Aggie Class of ‘27, and one son Bubba who is 16.  The Slocum family attend Grace Bible Church.

The Republican Primary election for Texas House District 12 will be held on March 5, 2024, and the general election will be held on November 5, 2024.
